A soundtrack to pair with the events that took place on October 6th, 2003. This is explored through the representations of the death of Timothy Treadwell. After years of addiction and suffering in a common way, he had a sudden epiphany and spent thirteen summers violating the territory of wild grizzlies in Katmai National Park. The a-side of the cassette, “Remains”, is written from the perspective of Treadwell’s obsession with being “like-a-bear”. Beginning elements include dreary tone clusters taking the track through moods of desolation and then finally leading into harsh tones representing the imagined disillusionment & loss of control during the bleak moments of the bear mauling.
Listeners are encouraged to hearken the journey of the first track by taking on the role of delusional Treadwell as he makes commitments leading to his own death and the death of his girlfriend, Amie Huguenard. The screeching waves of feedback and static sounds are to ring like warning signs. The abrasive sound- an attempt to embody obsessive behavior.
